Government Sanctions Operation KALARI to Revive Public Sports Facilities

Sponsors can now fund repairs to public grounds, courts, pools and stadiums across Kerala — while every facility stays fully in public hands.

The Government of Kerala has sanctioned Operation KALARI, a scheme that allows sponsors to support the repair and upkeep of public sports facilities across the State.

Under the scheme, a sponsor may pay for repairs, or carry them out under Government supervision after engineering sanction. The sponsor receives recognition in approved wording — but never ownership, possession, lease or control of the facility.

What sponsors receive

  • A plaque or board in approved wording, for a stated number of years
  • An official title such as Sports Infrastructure Partner
  • Their contribution recorded on the Department website
  • An official appreciation certificate

What stays protected

No sponsor can stop an athlete, a student or a member of the public from using a facility. A repaired facility reopens only after completion, fitness and safety certificates are all in place.

“Every ground revived under this scheme remains a public ground. That principle is not negotiable.”
— Sample Name, Sample Designation

Requirements under the scheme will be listed on KALARI with their cost, photographs and the name of the responsible officer.
